My friend had a FCV 585 which was paired with a tm 258 transducer which work fined for many years. Finally the screen went out and so he decided to upgrade to a FCV 588 using the old transducer. The unit was purchased at the GPS store and at that time we inquired if the tm 258 would be a plug and play for the unit and they checked with furuno saying that it was okay and rezboost would not work. Well he took the boat out recently with the new transducer and the bottom contour was kind of pixelated with small boxes. So the question is what transducer would provide a cleaner bottom contour like his old setup. The main use of the sounder is to see the bottom for deep bottom fishing. Would appreciate any and all feedback. Aloha forgot to mention it is transom mounted.
