I have 3 TZ2 units on the boat with the DFF3D with thru hull with fairing transducer. I have had the unit for quite some time but never got it to work as it should. When I use the 3D screen it always looks like I am running down a mountain range with no distinction of the actual bottom terrain. Like wise I cannot seem to get the single beam or 3 beam to work very well so I typically just use the traditional B260 1KW sounder built in to the TZ2 units. I have attached a couple photos of what I am seeing any help is appreciated.

These are shots from my TZ2 screens with DFF3d unit with the thru hull transducer. It always looks like I am running down a ridge when in 3d mode. The 3 beam works but does not really work very good so I always resort back to traditional sounder with B260 1kw using built in sounder.

Any help with tuning or how to get better results? I am currentlly running in manual mode but the range seems odd and not sure how to adjust on 3d screen.

CQuestII,
The most common cause for this is that shield on the transducer cable is not grounded properly under the metal cable clamp in the DFF3D module. Multi-beam systems (WASSP & DFF3D) are very susceptible to external noise and proper grounding is the key for good performance.

Snips....You were dead on it was the transducer ground. Now do you have any advice on how to adjust so I can see the bottom when running? It washes out even if I am at 80 percent gain in manual mode.

Thanks Tom

CQuestII,
If it is speed related it is most likely turbulence. If you have trim tabs you can try varying the boats pitch to see if that helps.
