FM4800 AIS Transmission to GP1971F

I believe my configuration is done correctly through my FI-5002 junction box, because I can see ship’s position and direction on my 1971’s. However, I expected to see ship names displayed on the chartplotter, but I only see a series of numbers next to the image of the vessel on my chartplotter.

Is there a manner to display ship names on the chartplotter?

The numbers you are seeing is the MMSI number for that particular vessel. Names are the lowest priority of data so they do not broadcast nearly as often. This is especially true in high traffic areas.

Additionally, though I believe you have already done this, make sure you have the GP1971F set to show target IDs.
Home, Settings, AIS and DSC, Show target IDs. Make sure this is set to "on".
