FCV 588

Plan on getting a bigger fishing boat this coming winter. Will be fishing in freshwater lakes for stripers. I believe with all the NMEA awards that Furuno has won, they are where my money would be best spent. The water depths in the lakes i fish are just over 100’ feet. Which transducer would be best with the FCV 588 for this setup?

I would recommend either the 525STID-MSD (Thru-hull) or the 525STID-PWD (Transom). Going with a 1KW would be overkill and only end up making a harder install and cost more money.

Sounds like a plan! Which one of the two would you recommend transom or thru hull and why?

Depends on the hull. Stepped hulls need to go through hull because a transom wont work. As the maker of the hull; many times they have flow test to show where the best place is for one. Transducer location is one of the hardest parts of getting a good working sounder.
