FCV-587 v1.02 issue

Hi All
Purchased a new FCV-587 last week and it has version 1.02 on the box

Unfortunately I am unable to select my transducer from the list. The list doesn't even have 1kW option :huh

I have attached a screen shot of the diagnostic page and the transducer list

it appears to have main firmware of 1.05 :sorry

the transducer is an air mar tm260 please see attached images for clarification

This is my first experience with Furuno products , What is the issue with my new FCV-587

Dan,
The FCV-587 is currently at 1.02 software but your self test reflects 1.05 (software for FCV-627). It appears your unit was mistakenly misprogrammed and also explains why there is no 1KW transducer setting. Please PM me the serial number so we can get you taken care of. Or... You can contact our service department directly via telephone.

I thought as much, i was worried when none of the firmwares showed 1.02

Supplier did RMA, Please Please Furuno make these units field updatable. Im sure we can do it over NMEA 0183. It is crazy in this day and age that we have to send back to the factory for such a simple task

Extradry, Furuno has a list of transducers for the Bottom Discrimination Mode and the TM260 is not listed as a compatible transducer. See list here: http://www.furunousa.com/products/produ ... sh+Finders and also here: http://www.furunousa.com/ProductDocumen ... nality.pdf

It will however work as a normal sounder, just not guaranteed to perform in BDM. Having said that, I have installed a FCV587 with TM260 and it seems to work. With the correct software in your FCV587 (v1.02) you will have the following tdr options to select from:

Yes I believe that you can use 526TID-HDD (B260 through hull) for BD which has the same cone 19/6 as the TM260. (but I could be wrong)

you can read the bottom without BD pretty accurate

I will be stoked just to see the 1 KW setting

thanks for the screen shot, that's what I was envisaging seeing for 1.02

I have the same setup 587/TM260. Which transducer selection did you select?

The TM260 and B260 both have the same exact elements and sonar parameters so select 526TID-HDD is the menu to get Bottom Dis.
