Recently installed a FCV587 with 525STID-MSD transducer. Having fished the same location for years this instrument sees the bottom but not the wreck. Do we need to change the setting on the FCV 587 or is there a sequence of steps to be followed in order to see both bottom and the wreck? Thank you.

Rich,
Without knowing more details i.e water depth, viewing frequencies or seeing a screen shot, it is hard to offer any more advise than using a 1/1 screen advance, TX power at 100% and TX rate at 10. Also when looking for objects on the bottom I recommend that both ACCU-FISH and the Bottom Discrimination on the 587 are turned off. I went back through my archives to see if I had any wreck screen shots using that transducer. Below is sunken airplane in a lake. During this outing we were testing different sounders with both 600 and 1kw transducers, but had the output power set at 600 watts so that the main difference was the beam width of the transducer. The first picture is of the 50Khz side (top sounder) of the 525 (600w) vs the 200Khz (bottom sounder) of a 526. The next shot is both sounders are using 526's, the top is 200Khz the bottom is 50Khz. Unfortunately I don't have a screen shot of the plane using the 200Khz side of the 525. As you can see the 50Khz side of the 525 detected the plane but due wide beam width (40 degrees) the definition was poor. How deep was the water that the wreck was in?

Snips. Thank you for the rapid reply. It was 90 feet of water. Unfortunately I don't recall the viewing frequency. Thanks again and have a great day.
