Good Afternoon.

My FCV 582 screen changed from white words and numbers to terribly horrible hard to see purple numbers and words. It seemed to happen while I was changing the "AUTO" function and start depth but no matter what I do it doesn't return to white numbers and words. How do I get it back to white? Thank you.

Go to the menu and select HUE.
You will see the changes as you make selections.

Thanks Melville. I did change the HUE setting to all seven selections and observed the background color and echo color change but the writing on the screen stayed the same purple color, not white. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

You might try a master reset back to factory default and start over.

Thank you Melville. Can you provide the steps to reset to factory default? The manual I have doesn't identify how to do it. Thanks again.

Wirewizard-
The following is from the operators manual which can be found online at our website.
Let us know if this works.

4.8 Clearing the Memory
The memory (all menu settings) can be cleared
to start afresh. All default menu settings are
restored when the memory is cleared. For your
reference all default settings are shown in the
menu tree at the beginning of this manual.
1. Turn on the power while pressing any key.
2. Press the [Arrow Up] key. The following display
appears.
+: YES
–: NO
Restore factory settings.
Figure 4-3 Clear memory display
3. Press the [+] key to clear the memory. The
following display appears while data is
being cleared:
Set data to default.
Figure 4-4 Display while memory
is being cleared
4. The Optional mode menu appears.

Thank you. We will try it and let you know if it works. Have a good day.

Hi Melville. Unfortunately resetting to factory settings didn't work. Guess it is time to retire this wonderful unit. Have a great day.

Melville,

Before retiring this great unit I opened it up and carefully removed and reinserted all the multi-pin connectors. Once again the unit works. The white numbers and letters are back. Thanks again for your assistance. Have a good day,
Rich
