is there an alterntive to the furuno ethernet hub 101. at $800 i would like to explore something more reasonable priced but would be compatible with the tzt3 and drs ax radar.
TPLink and Netgear hubs work well. The hub101 is very helpful if you must run 24v and want the Furuno name but as @TheReaper said it is only required by the NN3D system.

Really you can use any ethernet switch -- but stay away from the "smart switch" types. The Netgear GS108 and GS105 (8 and 5 port versions respectively) are a nice sturdy units that are native 12V. Just cut the power cable off the 110V transformer and connect it directly to a 12V fused supply on the boat. They are 1/16th the cost of a HUB 101 and actually have faster data speeds. They are also very reliable even on a boat.
