Dielectric grease in connectors?

Does Furuno recommend or discourage the use of dielectric grease in connectors (e.g., M/F plugs, power/sonar connectors, Cat6 cables, etc.)? The TZT install manual talks about vulcanizing tape, vinyl tape and cable ties for in-line connections but nothing specific for plugs going into the MFDs or additional protection within the plugs.

Reference to the vulcanizing tape in the install manual has to do with waterproofing. In general, dielectric grease is unnecessary for any light marine device.

Hope this helps, :sail

I have seen it cause more problems than it prevents. If the connections are sealed well, it isn't really needed.
