DFF3D - Switched at Dash?

Does this black box draw a lot of power in standby? (Installation manual says it goes into standby after 10 minutes of no LAN signal)

Should it be switched at the dash? (separate from the house bank master switch)

I'm picturing a scenario at anchor - I would have no need for the DFF3D to be on, but I might have my TZT2 on with an anchor watch alarm set (house bank master switch would be on for lights, etc.)

starbright55,

Several boats that I have visited recently and who had a DFF3D installed onboard, did have an independent breaker that powered the DFF3D.

At 12 Volts the DFF3D draws 1.4 Amps, and at 24 Volts the draw is at 0.7 Amps.

- Deep Blue ;)
