DFF3-D w new XL

I will not torture the wonderful guys on the phone any longer. They said if I got video of issue to send it in but will do so here in case others having challenges.
13&16 XL units with 16 both chart master and transducer- using 165-50-200-SS260 combo
2 things both probably me but set me straight
W PBM on or off, the DFF 3 beam will compress to about 25% of screen and lose bottom data- if PBM is on, the alarm goes off. If PBM off, no alarm but no data- the 50/200 still has bottom.
I was told via phone (multiple people involved w this as CSR was checking with others) it had to do with the dialog box being open- as you can see it is not and issue was occurring.

Challenge 2- deep water- I am guessing it is unit trying to find bottom but want to verify and is there any solution to this while running deep but wanting to scan top 300 ft? Those vertical lines “grow” from top to bottom…on Right side (dff 3 beam) left side 50/200

Jarcoach,

You may be going deeper than the multibeam sounder was designed for and is losing the bottom and hunting for the seabed. But not to worry, you might want to give these settings a try:
AUTO RANGE: OFF
GAIN MODE: MANUAL
Picture Advance: 1/1
Beam Angle: 30
Beam Width: 20
and make sure that the White Edge is turned OFF

I appreciate the info- will those settings also resolve the shallow water screen compression as seem in image #1?
