Dept contour shading

Hi from Hilo, Hawaii,

I've recently purchased a GP1871F chart plotter fish finder and am enjoying it a great deal. I also have the Transom Mt 600W Triducer 525STID-PWD to go with it.

I notice that in some brochure illustrations, there are many-colored depth contours. When I bring up the standard chart, there are only two shades of blue and these are for relatively shallow waters (less than 100'). If possible I'd like to have 4-5 colors at ~ 50' intervals. Is this possible with the 1871?

I've looked through the manual for the 1871/1971 but can't seem to find where to make such adjustments.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
 
Hello,

I recommend you try the following:
1. Swipe up on chart screen, select chart type, select shaded relief.
2. Home, settings, map, display mode, set display mode to custom, scroll down to depth settings and choose the setting here that you like for shading. Dynamic will match it to the viewing pane while normal is a set and forget. Selecting “Safe” and adjusting the safe depth will allow you some adjustment of the contours but not a lot.

Thanks very much for your suggestions which I appreciate very much. In the interim before receiving your reply, I mucked about a little as well.

When I registered my C-Map software, I found that I had the 4-D Max+ version. I think this may have given me more options. In any case, when I went to Home, settings, Map, Display Mode, Depth Settings, instead of Safe I chose Range Dynamic Invert. When I did that, there was a wide range of nearly white to increasingly darker blue shades that enabled me to have a better sense of depth changes with shallow at the bottom going to greater depths at the upper right:

Johnny, I don’t seem to see any of the high resolution Bathymetry oN my 1971. I think I have it on but can you run by the set up so I can make sure?
 
I'm having a similar issue where I'm not seeing the shading. I've found that if I turn High Res Fishing Bathymetry OFF, I see depth shading. When I turn it on, the contour lines get more detailed, but the shading goes away, all depths are blue. It seems like I've tried all the different shading modes to no avail. Any ideas?
