Hi there

I have to db1971 units, one running a TM150M and one running a TM260 50/200 1kw.

I seeking to better understand the Offsets section under Fish finder initial set up. Can't find must info.

Can someone please help explain what these two settings (echo offset and Bottom level) do, and recommend settings for medium depth (say up to 250ft) and deeper at up to 1000ft? Saltwater.

Many thanks

Rob

Rob,
I moved your forum post to under fish finders and sonars because it is more appropriate topic area for your question. Snips and other sounder gods normally offer better answers when it comes to sounder type questions.

"Bottom echo" is covered under para 6.5.3 of the Operator's Manual but "Bottom level" seems to be only covered in the Installation Manual. Bottom level feature is the same as our other sounders. It basically allow you to adjust the sensitivity for the DIGITAL depth number detection. You only want to adjust it if you have a good bottom showing on the display but the digital depth is not showing. (first ensure the depth source is correct before adjusting). You only want to lower the bottom level to the point that the digital number appear and no further.

Rob8888,
The Echo Offset control sets the start point of the sounders overall Gain control. Normally this is set at Zero but has a range of +/-50. There is really no need to change it but if you want to see what it does, start by setting the regular Gain setting at 20 then set the Echo Offset to +50 then to -50. This will quickly allow you to see what this control does. The reason it is there is that sometimes a 600W transducer a needs more gain than a 1kw transducer does.

Hope this helps.
