Connecting MFD12 to Simrad Autopilot

I have a pair of MFD12's for my nav and a simrad AP. They currently run independently and Id like to network them so the AP can follow the chart plotter waypoints.

Can someone tell me which 0183 leads from the Chartplotter are used for the course computer connection?

Thank you
C

The NavNet 3D units have three 0183 ports on each MFD. The easiest is to use data 2 or data 3 off of the provided 18pin multi-conductor cable. NMEA out on Port 2 is Red (+) and Red/White (-). The NMEA port 3 is Dark Green (+) and Green/White (-).

Hello, In that case, you take the for lines from the 0183 and connect to one of the Simnet lines?

Thanks

Simnet is NMEA2000. All you need is a Simnet-to-MicroC cable to connect the Simnet to the NMEA2000 network and all the data will be shared.

I had mixed success using my Simrad AP26 setup with MFD12s over a simnet to n2k adapter. Be careful, old Simnet connectors are VERY fragile (I speak from experience having them crumble in my hand). I got the feeling that Simrad's support for N2K on the AP26's was perhaps not quite ready for primetime.

The simpler way to set it up is take 0183 in/out from ONE of the MFD12 units into the autopilot computer (the part# of which escapes me). And then the info should be shared between the MFDs via the Ethernet HUB101. I'd go with 0183 not N2K for this.

Note, you CANNOT connect more than one MFD12 to the same N2K network. Only ONE of the MFD12's can be connected. That MFD12 will act as a gateway between the N2K network and the other ethernet-connected MFD12. You can configure that MFD12 as to which PGNs it should share.
