I would like to connect fcv 587 to vx2 for establishing waypoints.

Justified,
If you use Data 2 from the VX2 the wiring will be
VX2 to FCV-587
White to Yellow
Black to Green
Yellow to White
Green to Blue
You will then need turn on the VX2 NMEA sentences to output to the 587.

Thanks, I believe data port 2 is already in use, I'll check this weekend.

Hello Snips,

For the connection above (vx2 to 587), does the data2 wiring info below remain the same if data3 port is used? At the back of my vx2 is a data cable labeled Data3, which is already routed to the dash location where the 587 is mounted (which I just bought, replacing my 582). Data1 and 2 are already in use, data3 is open, the cable is not connected. On both ends of the existing Data3 cable is a standard push/twist connector, of which the end at the 587 will need to by cut off and wires exposed.

To confirm and given the above, is the info below correct? I assume by enabling the interface correctly, my 587's MARK button will be functional and output a signal to the vx2 creating a waypoint on the vx2? :respect

Kirk,
If you have a 10.4" VX2, Data 3 is the heading input. Do you have a 10.4" or a different VX2, maybe a BB unit or a smaller 7" display?

Hello Snips,

Yes, my unit is the 10.4" version. Data 1 appears to be the GPS input, Data 2 provides location to the VHF and Autopilot, so somewhere there must be a spliced connection feeding these two items. If I disconnect Data 2 I was able to confirm the VHF and Autopilot were without lat/long from my VX2.

Kirk

Kirk,
Since Data ports 1 & 2 are taken you can try Data 4, which is a seven pin plug.
VX2 587
White Yellow
Shield Green
Yellow White
Green Blue

You will need to program Data 4 for the proper output sentences.
