CONNECTING AN NMEA DEVICE

I have the Furuno nmea data converter and I am trying to figure out what to do with the eight leads coming from it aside from the three that are already connected together. My NMEA output port from my radar and its connector has 5 pins. Two are Data out, one is data in, one is data common and one is NC. Can you tell me which leads to attach and what to do with the other leads. I attached the diagrams that came with both equipment.

wreckless,

From your IF-NMEA2K2 Data Converter, you'll need to connect the following to your JRC Radar/Plotter 5-Pin Connector:

IF-NMEA2K2 RED Wire to Data Input on JRC Pin-4
IF-NMEA2K2 GRAY Wire to the Data Common on JRC Pin-3

Hope this helps..?

Thats's disappointing to hear. The installer told me that I could view my old radar on my TZT with furuno's nmea connector. This was after he talked to furuno about connecting it for viewing, so I purchased the two connectors. I was told I could not control the radar from the furuno but I would be able to view the radar on the furuno MFD. Why else would anyone connect the two?

The IF-NMEA2K2 are data converters. They convert NMEA0183 to NMEA2000 or visa versa.
This is not for radar. What radar are you trying to view?

I have a JRC radar and was looking to be able to view it on the furuno MFD. While it does have a chart plotter etc. I use these features as just a backup to the furuno. I would, however like to see the radar on the mfd.

It is not possible to see JRC radar video on your Furuno MFD unless you can find a way to get composite (RCA) video out from the JRC that could be input into the the Furuno's video input port.

I was told differently by JRC who was very forthcoming. Furuno was not so talkative, just said to get their converter to attach as no one else's converter would work.

Wreckless-
Could you please share with us what converter JRC is recommending?
Thank you.
