Hi,

Please, someone knows how to connect the FCV 587 do Garmin GPSMAP 527, wire to wire by NMEA 0183?

Thanks Ivan.

NMEA 0183 standards for marine equipment is at RS422 levels and based on what I see that Garmin is using RS232 (common ground). Newer Garmin units have learned the lesson and moved to RS422. You might need a level converter to be safe. (RS232 to standard RS422 NMEA) If you want to wire without the converter, it will most likely work but over the long term it might damage the NMEA port of one of the two units. Here is how it would wire without a level converter.

FCV585 RS422 (marine level) NMEA ---- Garmin RS232 (PC level) NMEA
White ----------------------------------------Brown
Blue------------------------------------------ Common BLACK
Yellow----------------------------------------Blue
Green-----------------------------------------Common BLACK

This would be for a bi-directional connection. Keep in mind the TLL(Target Lat/Lon) function will not function. Garmin doesn't support the standard NMEA TLL sentence.

Can one way relationship Garmin 527 towards Furuno FCV 587 for navi data cause damage and in that case what kind of relationship would that be.

Thank you in advance.

Mixing NMEA levels, if single or bi-directional would be the same. When jumping levels without a proper converter, NEVER put more than one listener or you will blow the port. You didn't say which direction you want the data to flow but single would just be a two wire connection.
