Bad TZT16X touch controller/screen?

Before I start the warranty/RMA process, I want to see if there’s anything that I should try for what looks like a bad touch controller on one of our TzTouchXL 16” units (1 of 4 networked TzTouchXL displays on this vessel). After being powered on a while it seems to start experiencing many rapid phantom touch inputs basically causing the screen to go nuts and become unusable.

I’ve tried obvious things like microfiber cleaning the screen (e.g. ensuring no water or other contaminants on the screen) and power cycling the display, neither of which correct the issue. No issues on any of the other 3 XL displays.
 
I think I've worked around the brokenness temporarily by managing, between screen spasms, to disable all touch input on the bad display using the option on the power button long-press menu. Then I can control it using a wireless USB mouse in the meantime. I can't just power this broken display down unfortunately because it also happens to be the vessel's chart master.

have you tried doing an update ?
 
Now we're finding this one display is getting stuck in occasional reboot loops today. I'm concluding that something about the hardware of this particular display just appears to be borked. No issues at all with the other 3 XLs on this vessel. I'll move this topic from this forum over to an official support request for warranty repair or replacement. Thanks.
