The manual is a little unclear as to what happens with a DRS25A-NXT if you turn off "Auto Acquire by Doppler." It says that targets can be identified manually to track but it also says that targets can be acquired automatically with a guard zone. The only difference seems to be the ability to track more targets if "auto acquire" is active.
Does this mean that I can turn off the auto acquire and set a guard zone and the ARPA will be just as effective at identifying and tracking all targets within the guard zone as it would be if "auto acquire" is turned on?
I am wondering if this is a possible solution to my spurious target issue since many of them appear close to the boat. I could designate a guard zone that is a short distance away and turn off auto acquire.
