Adding a second control head

I have a 711 AP (Fap7002) with a single, older grey scale control head. I'd like to add a 711c control head mounted remotely. Can I add the new control head to the N2K bus (easy to do) or do I have to run the connection back to the second control port on the processor unit (hard to do).

Hi,

Yes, you can add a 711C display to your current 711 display and processor as long as they have the latest software. The 711C display would not connect to the backbone, the 711C will connect into the FAP7002.

The ease of the installation is going to depend on your experience with wiring marine electronics but should not be too hard if you follow along in the installation manual to wire the display into the processor.

Kicker,
Thanks for the response. I think you misinterpreted my ease of install comments. Where I will install the new controller I have easy access to the N2K bus that the AP is also on. So that's an easy install. If the unit requires that I run a separate dedicated run from the control head to the AP then it is a much more time consuming install.
My question is can I use the N2K bus to connrct the 711c to the AP?

The 711c control heads use a proprietary cable that it gets its power and data from. Reading kickers post it sounds like it needs to go straight back to the FAP processor.

The FAP7002 has two ports for the display TB8 A and B. You can either daisy chain off the original display or take the new one into TB8 B.
