711c included wiring?

Finally have opportunity to install the 711C. Opened box & found the control cover broken. Read 3 booklets of instructions. Does the FAP 7002(2) hook up to Nmea 2K? Why no cable? Which side does terminal go on Control unit, out or in?

Good morning Akila,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The FAP7002 can connect to a NMEA2000 bus but it does not have to. It does have a NMEA2000 port but it also has NMEA0183 ports. So it really all depends on the installation if you need it to connect to a NMEA2000 bus or if there are different sources of data that can use NMEA0183.

The termination plug should connect to the last control head in the chain. If only one control head is used please connect termination plug to the "out" port.

OK, Let me list what I have.
Furuno 3D with DFF1, Twin Suzuki 150ap,I believe I have 7 ports on NMEA 2000 & it looks like 2 more with the 711C.
I noticed in the instructions, correct me if wrong, the PG700 can connect to the end of the NMEA 2000 chain if the resistor is turned on?
Also who would I contact to see if I can exchange the Control cover that came cracked?
Thanks

The FAP7002 also called NavPilot Processor will connect to the nmea2000 backbone.
The Pg700 will connect to the NMEA2000 backbone.

The last 2 nodes will need to be terminated within 6m of the drop cable. So yes if the pg700 is one of the last nodes it will need to have the internal terminator resistor turned on. If it’s not one of the last 2 nodes then no resistor.

Any N2K backbone has to have 2 terminating resistors both at 120 ohms which will make the overall resistance across the data lines at 60 ohms. That is a rule and an important one. Next, any drop cable has to be 6m or less. If a drop is longer than 6m it needs to be shortened. There are a lot of rules that need to followed, I apologize it would take too long to list.

The n2k backbone needs to comply with the NMEA2000 installation protocol and standard.

Below is an example of an N2K backbone.

You will need to contact the dealer who you purchased the equipment from.

As C-Bass mentioned, there are a number of different ways to wire the FAP7002. I've installed mine almost exactly as shown in the diagram above.
If you are not familiar with how to setup an N2K network or not comfortable stripping those small gauge wires inside your N2K cable and inserting them into the terminal block you should contact a Furuno installer.
