711c autopilot help - autopilot making 90 degrees turn

Hi,

I have installed a 711c autopilot on a 36 foot boat with inboard engines.

When i press goto a location, the boat does a 90 degrees turn (like quarter of a turn) before heading to the point. Cam someone please help on how to fix this.

Are you saying the boat turns 90 deg and stays on that course or returns to the original course heading eventually? If it is the latter it sounds like you need to hit "restart" to get the autopilot to navigate from your current position.

Have you zero'd out the cross track error before engaging the pilot in Nav mode?
Does the pilot have the same reaction in going into autot mode?
