Hi Guys

Been running a 295 with SS175 for a few years now and i am fairly happy how it performs. The thing is i see photos over socials and they always look better. So im asking has anyone got settings to suit these to units fishing for marlin between 100m and 200m? I feel as im just a couple of settings away from getting it spot on!

I have a 6.0m fibres glass boat running a SS175 low as well connected to a Garmin 16".

Below are some images.

Thanks

Razorcraft,

Ensure that the transducer is set for the correct Tap Setting of "A", and then select a fixed frequency between 40-60 kHz

You can always adjust the FCV295’s TVG (Time Variable Gain) settings, but keep in mind there are two key parameters to adjust: TVG level and TVG distance. With this system, less is often more. Using a lower TVG level typically reveals more detail on the screen.

To enhance gain near the bottom, start by setting the TVG distance to match the depth at your current location. From there, fine-tuning the TVG level will control how much detail appears on your display.

If you're targeting fish with minimal vertical separation, consider adjusting the FCV295’s pulse length. A longer pulse offers deeper penetration but reduces the clarity for tightly grouped targets. Also, try using Short 1 or Short 2 pulse lengths to better define stacked fish. For deeper waters, a longer pulse may eventually be necessary.

Once the gain is dialed in, you may notice some excessive clutter, use the clutter control feature to suppress these weaker, unwanted signals to clean up your view.
