165T/275LHW-12P max depth

What is the deepest I should expect to be able to read bottom with this transducer? Can I read the water column for bait while in the deep if I use manual range? Anyway to boost this transducer? Tzt3 with dff3d.

Barrync,

In regards to the maximum depth that you should expect for the 165T/275LHW, the DFF3D has a operating frequency 165 kHz and a beamwidth of 120 degrees. So you should expect a depth of around 984 ft straight down, and 656 ft along the edges of the beam width.

For the B275LHW side of the transducer, with the Low Frequency Chirping from 42 kHz to 65 kHz, and a Beam width of 25° to 16° you should get a maximum depth of around 3000 ft. On the High Frequency side that is Chirping from 150 kHz to 250 kHz, with a Beam width of 25°, you should expect a depth of about 500 ft.

Keeping in mind that the transducer is located in a good turbulent free location, and the transducer beam widths are not obstructed in any way.

I hope this information helps..? :think

I have these exact transducers and can confirm the above. The Dff3d numbers are almost exactly what I have experienced. The low frequency side of 275 is surprising good at depth for marking fish. We can easily mark fish and bait on the bottom at 1300ft. I have not tried it deeper for fish but it marks the bottom in well over 2000ft.

Thanks guys that's great to hear. That will be my exact set-up this year. A B275LHW and a DFF3D. This really boost my confidence in my setup going forward. Catch 'em up! :jump

sdonx,

When you get everything operational, please let us know how it's working out for you..?

Good luck out there..!

I'm not sure if I'm having problems with my transducer or if there is a setting off. This past weekend while in the deep, I switched to low frequency in about 600ft and it wouldn't pick up bottom. I took this picture closer in on split frequency. On low even at this depth it doesn't work. Is there a way to test the transducer to make sure it isn't bad? What else should I look for/do? TZ3 was recently updated to latest software.
