GP-1870F - Display issue

Hello,

I installed a GP-1870F unit back in March this year. Everything worked fine until this weekend (10/04) when I went aboard and tuned it on. The display only showed vertical lines and colors. It seemed to startup and give the usual acknowledge beep and when I held done the power button it shut down after 3-5 seconds. I pulled the power cable left it for awhile then started again, same thing. I removed the chip as well but no glory. Any suggestions? Hoping not to have to send it back.

Thx
Nicolas

I would suggest checking the voltage. It might be that the power levels are low. You might try with a fully charged power system. If it still has problems, you could try a reset from the little white button near the SD card slot. If still not working, it would have to be evaluated by the service center.

I tried to install the newest software update as per the instructions, but it didn't work. Has anyone else had trouble getting the update package to execute?

Marko888 and bajanfisherman were you able to resolve your issues?
Thanks for the reply as I am researching my next purchase.

Marko888,
No. We haven't heard of or had any problem with the software update procedure. We do, however, suggest using a card that is 4GB or less in size. Take the new card out of the box and do not format it. If you've formatted the SD card already and it's 4GB or less in size, please reformat using a true SD card formatter program, such as:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
Once this has been done, follow the two procedures below:

2. http://www.furunousa.com/ProductDocumen ... ctions.pdf

****Here's a link to the software discussed in #1:

Hi,
Been busy doing some other jobs.
I have reset the unit as suggested but no change to the display and I am using a 20AMP PS at home. Took the unit out the boat. Think I need to send this one back to be checked.
