Switching Raytheon autopilot from port 2 to port 4 on a Navnet vx2

I bout an AIS that required the use of port 2, which is the port that previously communicated with the autopilot. My only available port is now port 4, the 7 pin port.

both ports have RD-A and RD-B...but port 4 doesn't have TD-A and TD-B...it has TxD and RxD. How do I make this work?

You have to use a RS232C on the DATA 4 connector to RS422 converter to connect to the autopilot.

On the RS232 side of the converter wire the VX2 DATA 4 connector to TxD (white), RxD (blue), and GND (bare shield wire), Wire this according to the converter instructions.

Wire the converted 422 to the AP the way it is now.

Thanks Titanic,
Do you have a good part recommendation that takes bare wires on both ends? everything I'm seeing wants a serial port feed.

All the ones I have seen or just looked up have terminal connections for the 422 and DSUB-9 connector on the 232 side232 conv.jpgdsub9.jpg

It should come with a pinout. Wire it crossover.

DSUB 9 DATA 4
Pin 2 RXD PIn 1 TXD
Pin 3 TXD Pin 2 RXD
Pin 5 (gnd) Pin 7 (shield, gnd)

You need a 7-pin cable to connect to DATA 4, part number 000-154-028. The cable from Data 4 wires into the DSUB 9 (RS232) connection. You are showing the RS422 side which wires into the autopilot.
