A few misc. questions for the group:
  • What can a TZT3 do that a GP-1971F cannot?
  • Is it true that the GP-1971F has Navionics Chart capabilities and TZT3 does not?
  • Will the First Watch radar work on a TZT3? What are disadvantages of First Watch compared to DRS2DNXT ?

To me most displays do the same things - but it is a huge difference in personal preferens and feeling.
A little bit like different cars - in a spec on paper they are almost the same. 4 wheels, motor, gearbox etc etc.
But we all have strong preferences.

So : Go to a dealer and see what you like. Do not trust what other people like.

To me the most striking hard point is size of display.
And then of course there might some detail that may be very important for you. That can be a deciding factor.
Maybe you have a existing radar that you want to connect. Can they do it?

The first watch will not work on the TZT3 as it is not a network device. The first watch wireless radar is a good basic radar but no abilities to do much as far as adjustments. It is designed for those who want a low cost simple radar without too many adjustments. It works with iOS devices and the GP1871F/Gp1971F units. Yes, the GP1971F can support the Navionics+ or Platinum plus chart cards (a separate purchase). These little units are quite a bit different than a NavNet system and you really can't compare them because they are designed for different sized boats and markets. The NXT radar and wifi radar are in different worlds from each other. It is like comparing a VW bug and a Ferrari. What size of boat or type of boat are you trying to fit?
