Getting my Navnet MFD12 to display wind info.

Hi,

Having recently got some great advice on here regarding the Navnet system I inherited on my new to me boat. I’m gonna try again with my next task which is to get the system to display wind information.

There is no wind sensor on the boat, it’s a motor boat, but I’d like to have wind info if possible.

So my query is what sensor do I need to get that is compatible with my old Navnet system? My system comprises 2 x MFD12 & 2 x MFD8 + a couple of FL50 depth displays all fed from a 101 hub.

Also how do I connect it up I.e. what cables do I need?

Per the manual specifications page, the MFD12 will accept wind by NMEA 2000 using PGN 130306 or via NMEA 0183 MDA sentence or MWV sentence. It could be done by using an Airmar sensor to your NMEA 2000 bus like the 220WX (or the 0183 version of the same) or via a standard wind transducer like the FI5001 and the IF-NMEAFI combination going to the 2000 bus.
