Furuno GP39, NASA Clipper GPS Repeater

Hello,

i have bought a new Furno GP39, it replplaces the old Furno GP31.

The old Furuno devices has been connected to a GPS repeater (NASA Clipper GPS), to display the Position and Speed in the cockpit (Furuno device und the deck)

Now, after installing the new Furuno GP39, the repeater does not display position or speed, the repeater displyes "No GPS Signal"

The repeater has the NMEA 0183 Version 2.0 or 3.0
So i have made the changes in the I/O-Setting.
But nothing happens, still "no signal" at the repeater.

I guess the cable-connections are alright, there are only three wires to connect:
Red (+12v) / -12V (Ground) / Yellow(NMEA-Signal)

Is it possible, that the Furuno GP39 do not give the right Signal to the repeater?
Or do i have to connect another wire for the NEMEA-Signal ?

Is it possible that the Cables do have new functions at the single wires ?

Best regards
Heiko

The pin out of the wiring of the GP39 is not exactly the same as the older GP31. The GP31 offers an RS232 port which the GP39 does not have. You should check to see if the other unit requires RS323 or RS422.

Yes, here i have the same problem
does someone have a solution.
The GP39 is rs422 and the repeater rs232

You will need a level converter in the middle if need to change RS422 to RS232. They are not the same level and should not be directly connected without a proper level converter. Actisense and Noland Engineering have converters for this.

I had de same problem, and finally a solution.
I placed a QK-AS03 protocol bridge from Quarc Elec in between and it works.

Connections:
Gp39. AS 03
TD-A (w) Nmea in + (w)
TD-B (b) Nmea in - (r)
RD-H (y) Nmea out + (black)
RD-C (g) Nmea out - (blue)
