My 711C is wired on a different circuit that the rest of the electronics due to the high power required for the pump.

If I turn the display off at the control head, is it also powering off the processor unit to which it is connected?

Yes it'll power off the processor. When you hit the power button to turn on the processor, you can actually hear the processor click on.
