Wind Input TZTL

I don't know if it is just a coincidence but after updating to 6.26 I no longer have any True Wind Speed or Apparent Wind Angle displayed on my TZTL.

When I go to the sensor list it shows:
Current: WSO100
Preferred: GPS200

I tried researching what this configuration means without success.

I assume that "Current" means the sensor that is presently providing the data?

Why would the GPS200 be used for this kind of information?

Thanks >> Joe

It's interesting.

After looking more closely it appears that I can only select the "Current" input source.

The "Prefered" must be auto-selected by the TZTL2 MFD?

Thanks >> Joe

You can only change the preferred selection. It is what you "Prefer" to use as the primary source for that type of data. "Current" shows you what the system is currently using for data. When the two don't match, it is because the selected preferred item isn't providing the needed data so the unit goes looking elsewhere to see if it can find. If it finds no suitable source for that type of data; the current selection will cycle continuing to look for a good source. If it finds something, it will lock on and stay the current selection until a point of time that your preferred source becomes available. If the preferred source starts working, the unit will switch back and reflect it in the "current" selection. If your GPS doesn't provide wind data then it really shouldn't be selected as your preferred source of wind. True wind requires SPEED to calculate it. If the boat isn't moving, that would explain why you can't get True.

Thanks for the detailed response.

For TWA/TWD/TWS & AWA/AWS:
Current: WSO100
Prefered: GPS200

The only choice for Prefered is the GPS200. No other sensors are listed. Should I see the WSO100 listed?

I will check the readings next underway.

Thanks >> Joe

Ideally if it is showing up on the bus and putting out good source of wind data, yeah.. it should be select-able as a preferred source. That Maretron device has been discontinued and from our perspective it has been a bit problematic. If I can get my hands on a working unit I will see how it appears on our unit. For now, if it is your only source of wind, the TZT will auto switch to it automatically, even if you can't select it as the preferred source. As long as it stays as "Current" and shows good data, it should work for you. It isn't ideal because when you first power up it can take a couple of minutes for it to auto switch after noticing the GPS200 isn't giving wind data.

Unfortunately there is no wind data even while underway.

Guess I will have to have my electronics guru troubleshoot.

Do you still sell the 220WX? Wonder if I can substitute without having to run a new cable? Grrrrr.

Thanks

Just wanted to close out this ticket.

The problem was resolved after I upgraded my network to v7 and did a Master Reset on all three displays.

I honestly feel that the Master Reset is what solved the problem as this was not done after the previous software upgrade.
