WEATHER - Data source

I am intrigued by the availability of Weather Data for the TZtouch3 MFD. When exploring the website I could not find the source of data being used. I am familiar with the data resources of WINDY.com and the data provided to OpenCPN. Both provide downloads of native resourced data prepared by the National Weather Services from various countries.

What are the resources being used to create the weather resource for the Furuno hardware?

The TimeZero company provides weather information for the Furuno MFDs. Here's a link to their site regarding their weather service. https://mytimezero.com/weather-forecast-service
Thank you. I see they are providing the GFS data stream. While I utilize the GFS models, I have found the reliability over a 15day forecast can vary considerably in comparison to the ECMWF models. It is great to be able to get both data streams and to compare the data. My observations show that for the first 96 forecast hours they are relatively in sync. The ECMWF model for the PacificNW weather has shown to be an improved tool for forecasting upto 192-240 hour forecasts. While I understand the software programing needed to provide larger data streaming, it would be a distinct advantage for Furuno to support this additional modeling.

I just got my TZtouch3 MFD. I'll see what I can do discover about the weather data streams. You say the TZ data is free for the MFD? It looks like the site says you need to get a Navigator package to access the described data. Is this just limited marketing?

The data for Nav Center weather on the TZ Touch3 is free. Any cost would be related to the Internet provider (if any) when connecting the TZT to download the data. That link for TimeZero was for general information about the weather service. Any information other than that relates to the computer program that they sell (TZ Navigator or TZ Pro); that does not apply to Furuno TZT MFDs.
