Waypoint Manager?

I know this has been asked in the past...but any suggestions for waypoint management software?

I tried SeaMarks...very cumbersome..not all that effective for charting.
I looked at MaxSea...appears to be more geared to operational integration with functioning Nav Network than for simple waypoint management and charting. Also prohibitively expensive for simple waypoint management and plotting use.

Considering how important it is to manage waypoints you would think there would be a good solution for one of the most popular nav systems available to recreational boaters?

Good afternoon Ralph162,

Thank you for your inquiry. I cannot comment about a Furuno Planning software so I a sorry about that. As you mentioned it is a desirable feature and product and it has been requested by many customers, so thank you for asking as a request for future use. We do appreciate product recommendations and a recommendation can never be asked enough.

May I ask, what NavNet system are you running? Vx2, NN3D, TZT, TZT2?

I may be able to give you some options based on what version of MFD you are running.

Kind Regards,
C-bass

Sorry for the delayed response. I am running a TZTouch2.

I have used SeaMarks...not very useful for plotting way points on maps. It's possible, but cumbersome to the point where it's not really viable. It also has had trouble handling my GPX and TZD files exported from my TZTouch2.

I have been using Gartrip which works very well, but it seems to be having issues with the Furuno Metadata even after conversion through SeaMarks.

I will next have to try the Humminbird and Garmin waypoint management software. They have numersous offerings for their products. I am surprised that Furuno offers nothing for the recreational user to manage their waypoints.

The Furuno system is impressive., especially the radar and sonar technology. But it misses some very basic features for non-commercial users (such as a distance scale, system voltage display, numerical temp display on sonar) etc...things that every other system includes. Would also be nice to have access to the Navionics "Sonar" bathymetric charts..those are awesome. Most other systems handle those. I purchased the Furuno "fishing charts"..what a waste...includes barely more depth contours then the basic C-Map navigation chart...minus the buoys.
