TzTouch2 to Navpilot711c

Hi. On the FAP 7002 processor unit I am using the CAN bus port to connect the heading sensor. Can I connect the TzTouch2 through nmea2000 backbone to the Navpilot711c control unit somehow? If so, which cable is needed? Thanks!

The 700 series control heads are a special CanBus and not NMEA 2000. You can NOT connect your TZT2 to that. You would connect the TZT2 via NMEA 2000 which your pilot should also connect to. (The pilot NMEA 2000 connection port to the bus is TB11) You must have a bus with proper power and terminations for the items to communicate on the bus. Alternately, you could use 0183 to drive the pilot from the TZT2 instead of NMEA 2000. NMEA 2000 works better because it allows the TZT2 display to also access heading from the PG700 compass also on the 2000 bus.

Thanks. I have the TzTouch2 connected to NMEA 2000 backbone already but nothing else but the VHF radio is on the backbone. So I can connect the FAP7002 to the NMEA 2000 backbone and the PG700 to the NMEA 2000 backbone, and I should be good?

From PG700 to NMEA 2000 can I use any NMEA 2000 drop cable?

Yes as long as you turn on the Navigation PGNs from the TZT2 so it can drive the pilot with data.

From PG700 to NMEA 2000 can I use any NMEA 2000 drop cable?

Yes as long as it conforms to NMEA 2000 standards and doesn't exceed the max drop length.

I have a multi screen (3 x 12 inch TZT2) installation (by others) and have what's probably a novice question. In the data settings (NMEA 2000 and 0183) do I want all three TZT2's data output settings (i.e. navigation data to the NavPilot 711C) the same or should just one display be outputting data to the AP? 99% of use I have one screen for radar, one for MAN engine data and one as chart plotter. Should all three displays essentially have the same data output settings or should there be differentiation based on how I use them.
