TZtouch2 -12 typical power draw

I see that the specified power draw of the TZt212 is listed at 3 Amps at 12 VDC. Is this a conservative maximum, or a typical value? If it's a max, what is the typical power draw (assuming normal daylight backlighting)? I'm trying to estimate what my power draw budget would be with a Furuno TZT212 based system. This is for a long range sailboat application, so power budget is important. Thanks.

It is the maximum. We do not list or calculate nominal power draw. Normally it will drop a lot by lowering the backlighting which is the largest power consumer.
