TZTL12F and ICOM IC-M506 Radio

The VHF radio on my boat is an older ICOM IC-M506 but does not have NMEA2000 capabilities. Right now it's not hooked up to GPS input so doesn't have any position data.

Looking through the documentation for the radio and the TZTL12F, it looks like the TZT has NMEA0183 output wires as part of the MULTI cable. The radio has a set of data out wires and a pair of "GPS in" wires. Is it a simple matter of hooking up the data out wires from the TZT to the GPS in wires on the radio?

Thanks!

Yes, just those two wires (green/yellow) on your radio would hook up to the Furuno. Don't bother connecting shield. Just the two wires.
Software wise, you might in the Furuno select which data to send on NMEA0183 ouptut per the instructions above.

Sorry for the delay in checking back in on this, but connecting the two wires worked perfectly. I'm glad I avoided having to buy a new radio.
