TZT9-14 Track Recording

I wish there was a way to say Start Track, then say Stop Track - Save or Delete, Save would say name Track now/later. This would be such a help rather than use Track Back. I believe Garmin has one that I describe. Example you want to set a Track leaving you berth to mouth of harbor or just a particular troll. Also how can you pick a section of a Track to save just a section and name now or later.

Think you are looking for para 2.11.7 of the operator's manual. How to record tracks.
It describes how to turn on and off recording of your track. Once you have a track recorded, you can save it. (NOTE: you cannot save tracks if you still have your recording active so turn off track recording before attempting to save) Saving tracks is done under the FILES menu. (Export Tracks)
 
I highlighted a track and saw many numbers pop up on the track which were slight course changes I would guess. I then went to EDIT and Named and saved the track. I then highlighted the track again and hit delete which I thought would only clear it off the screen only. I was under the impression that when saved it would be retrievable from the Route List. That apparently was a mistake on my part. So the highlighting a track and adding a name a saving it for future use just like a Track is where I need to get so how do I get that to work but clearing it off the active screen.

It hides all your tracks until you are ready to view them; then you can un-hide them. You can't hide individual routes. It is all or none.
 
The hide feature just hides them from your active view. Tracks are not like routes, they have no list. You have the active track you are recording or not recording. You can save it (export it) to SD card backing up each track memory as you go. You can look at the backup and choose any of them you might want to restore.
 
OK am getting a little frustrated. I was able to convert a track to a route via 2.11.8. It then appeared in the Route List. Thought I was there but then when a deleted the track from the active screen it deleted it from the Route List as well. Getting closer.

Keep at it. It sounds like you are combining some other features like "TrackBack" designed to turn tracks into routes. That is a different subject than tracks and backing them up.
 
I can make points and turn trackes into routes. When I delete from the chart the points and routes also delete from the point and route list I am at the boat and tried exactly what the book says. It just does not work
 
Being that I have I think followed all the directions and still if I delete a point or a Route from the active chart screen is also deletes from the point and Route List. I have both the TZT9 and TZT14. The TZT9 is the Master and the TZT14 is the Slave. I have been doing this from the TZT14 could this be the problem that it must be done from the Master. Also not sure if the Master was turned on all my tries.

Ok I have tried again with no success. TZT9 Master was on and I worked from TZT14. If I touch the screen and a point appears I go to edit put name and GPS numbers in and save. It will appear in points list but if I delete from screen is also deletes from list. Same thing happens with routes.
 
What you are describing is point creation and deletion not track recording. If you delete them, yep; they go away. Although tech support doesn't provide training on the phone, I am sure they could help talk you through a few things if you give them a call while you are on the boat.
