TZT3 and offshore internet

If there is reliable internet on a boat offshore with TZT3 16's what extra benefits will be gained?
Weather uploads with SST's, altimetry , storms, etc?
I think satellite internet is coming at a much easier and cheaper package.
Thanks

For what you are asking for, the best recommendation would be picking up a BBWX4 SiriuxSM receiver and subscribing to SiriusXM's Marine Offshore or Fish Mapping subscription plans.

For more information, I would invite you to sign up for the SiriusXM Fishmapping webinar presentation for Furuno products coming up May 24th at https://siriusxmcommunications.com/marinewebinars/

Hope this helps, :sail

I now about XM, I am asking about internet capabilities for the TZT3 .Can it download Weather updates for storms, SST's etc. if a good internet connection is available .

This is from the original TZT2 brochure, I am having trouble finding information about the WiFi capabilities of the newer TZT3 units. Does the TZT3 offer more?

Get Connected With Our Wireless LAN Interface
Marine Weather Forecast
The weather tool is completely free and easy to use, giving you unlimited access to weather forecasts worldwide 24 hours a day. Select geographic coverage, data type, period of time, and then choose how to receive the file. NavNet TZtouch provides up to 16 days of weather forecasting.

I don't think that there is a benefit to having the systems connected to the internet continuously other than your waypoints and routes syncing to the cloud as they are created. The weather that you download before leaving the dock isn't going to change much while you are out unless you are out there for days. I am sure Johnny or Maggy will jump in and correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the file that is downloaded to the display in only updated every 3-5 days anyhow.

I thought the information was updated twice per 24 hours. With internet becoming an easier option while offshore hopefully they will increase the update frequency.
Can anyone share SST and altimetry screen shots that are available?
Can you alter the temperature color bar on the TZT3 to only show the desired temps?
Is the download file a single or a multi day composite?
Thanks

You can see examples attached from the manual.

You can turn on or off the automatic SST scale by tapping [A]. You can also set the minimum or maximum value for which to show SST. The manual walks you through it.

It's a daily download, to get it working make sure your plotter's wifi is setup to "Connect when Necessary" and has an established hotspot hooked up. Otherwise, just go into the NavWeather app page, tap the screen, and select "Get Latest Wx"

Hope this helps, :sail
