TZT2 Sounder or DFF1

I'm currently not using the sounder of my TZT12L and instead use a DFF1 and an Airmar B117 transducer. Is there any point in installing a switch box with the B117 so it can be used with either the TZT2 or DFF1? I'm thinking more in terms of a backup plan but I'm also curious if the TZT2 sounder is any different/better than the DFF1.

MarMax,

The sounder that is in the TZTouch2 is essentially is the same sounder as the DFF1. So if you want to install a switching box with your B117 and utilize the TZTouch2 as a backup Echo Sounder, there shouldn't be an issue.

I hope that you find this information helpful..?

Yes, thank you for the reply. I just did some searching and it looks like a switch for one transducer and two sounders is on the pricey side so I may need to think about this more.

MarMax-
If you just want to use the extra sounder as a back up in case the other fails you could just plug the transducer into the TZT2. If the cable is not long enough we offer an extension of 4 meters. It is part AIR-033-203. It has a list price of $85.

Melville, yes on the cable length, I could just re-route from the DFF1 to the TZT2 if I had to. I'm still shocked that the Airmar switch box (SB646) is $300+. There is no more to it than three connectors and a switch. Do you know what panel mount connector is used for the 10-pin male side? I'll bet I could make a switch box if I could find the appropriate connectors from Mouser or the like.
