I am not sure if that will alter the "Navigate to Waypoint" behavior or not. When I initially set mine up I was on 2.X firmware and I had sensor synch set to off and manually defined the incoming Device/PGN to be one of my TZTL15F units and then went on the TZTL15F under settings >initial setup > NMEA 2000 network and turned on the appropriate sentences.
This worked fine until I upgraded to firmware 3.01, at which time I started having problems with the 711C throwing an alarm "Position Source Are Changed", and "Speed Source changed"
then I would press any button and the alarm would stop and it would continue working.
I tried pointing it to the other TZTL15 unit, and made sure that only one TZTL15 was outputting NMEA 2000 sentences at a time. Still no luck, I was randomly getting the alarm. It did not appear to affect the pilot's ability to steer but was super annoying.
I then upgraded to 4.01 firmware and that came with a new display where you can operate the 711C from the TZTL15 screen. That all worked but the random (and frequent) alarm persisted. I went back through the setup (Wrench button + click knob 3 times as you mention) and changed the sensor synch to on after having read somewhere that that option is compatible with the TZT2 units. I am not getting the alarm anymore and all is working. I am not sure why support recommended against that option. What firmware are you running and have you tried the diagnostic mode from within the 711C setup? Perhaps it might give a clue.
