Tzt2 interface with Raymarine S1000 autopilot

The TZT2 offers an NMEA 0183 that is NMEA complaint at RS422 voltage levels. It appears you pilot accept NMEA 0183 at RS232 (PC level). You might want to check with Raymarine on that. If true, you would require an RS422 to RS232 level converter to properly connect the Raymarine. Some Raymarine units have NMEA RS422 connections at the back of the display head. If yours does, you could connect the TZT2 there.

Unfortunately there is no head on this unit. Just a handheld remote to control the course computer.
Can you suggest a converter that will withstand the environment?

Actisense, Blackbox, and Noland Engineering are known for NMEA level converters/expanders. If being really watertight is the goal; you might want to look at the actisense because I think they offer a sealed box.

Quick update. Installer was able to interface with the S1000 course computer and the autopilot is working great.
Thanks for the heads up :furuno
