Transducer/ sounder recommendations

Hi,

I am currently planning a new system for my boat. We have some space limitations. We fish off the East coat and target everything from shallow wrecks to canyon fishing both troll and deep drop for tile and swordfish.

I would like to add both a Dff3d and deep impact to my TzT 3 system. Once choice I am considering is the 165t/ pm 542 lhw. I do here that there are significant supply chain issues, and may not be able to get this model or even any 165t transducers. If that is the case I may forgo the Dff3d at this point and do either a deep impact or fcv295. I

I would like to get some idea of the differences between the pm 111 and the cm 599. I am trying the significance of the difference in internal ceramic assemblies in each transducer.

Appreciating the fcv 295is not a chirp unit, can you offer some comparisons between the deep impact unit and the fcv 295. Does the 295 offer more or less tuning capabilities?

Thanks

The Cm599 has LH, LHW, LM varieties as does the PM111. Airmar has the technical specs of each posted under whichever you are considering. If going shallow and deep; I think the LHW would be the best so you have good coverage in the shallows and yet still have LF for the deep.

Both the PM111 and CM599 will offer about the same on the HF, the difference is in power to the LF side (PM111=2kw; CM599=3kw) and the LF freq. The 599 is going to go deep not just because of a little more power but because the freq can go down to 28khz. Lower freq means more depth and freq always trumps power. If it can be fitted, my suggestion would be the CM599LHW, assuming you don't go with the 165T combo transducer.

The TZT3 with DI box offers more flexibility because you can also run CHIRP or CW when the FCV295 would be excellent but at CW only.
