TM265LH to Furuno

I have a chance to purchase a used TM265LH Xsonic 9 pin transducer. I wish to use with a FCV-800 Sounder.
Can I just cut end off and splice the Y adapter cable and plug into sounder ?

It would be better to wire up a Furuno 12 pin and then use the Y adapter without modification. I am told the xsonic transducers should work fine when properly wired up. I haven't heard much about them overall. If you go that route, please let us know how you like it.

Only issue I have with that is to source a 12 pin from somewhere at a reasonable cost.
