Switching from vx2 system to 3d

Hello,
I'm currently looking to update from a vx2 system to the 3d.
I'd like to do the install myself and was wondering what kind of project I'm undertaking?! Is it pretty much plug and go or is there a ton of upgrades etc I'm looking at.
I have a dff1 black box and I know the radar is digital on the 3d compared to analog on the vx2.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The DFF1, if really old, might need a software update. As you said; you can not keep the old Vx2 radar for the NN3D. You can normally keep many of the other accessories like GPS antenna, Fax30 and others. I could be more help if you gave a full list.
