Setting UP SCX-20 after install

Hey guys...first of all, please PM me a link to a thread if there is already one on this topic...you can delete this one and I apologize in advance.

I just finished the first half of my electronics refit. I installed a Furuno TZT16F, B175M and an SCX-20. Everything is up and running....but now I believe I have to make some adjustments to the SCX? Things like specific location on my hard top (It's a couple feel off center to the starboard)...possibly the degree due to the curve of the hard top? Things like this?

Is there a Dummy Guide to this? lol. Any help in general is greatly appreciated as I'm kind of lost on where to even start.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

The installation manual has a straightforward description of the settings you will need to make for an initial installation. https://furunousa.com/-/media/sites/fur ... manual.pdf

There are some measurements required but generally it is pretty simple. You can use the TZT 3 16 to access the settings menu of the SCX-20 by looking under the Initial Settings menu.

Depending upon what equipment you have on your system, you will also want to configure them to use the SCX-20 as the primary position, SOG, and heading data source. On the TZT 3 16, that is also under the initial settings menu. You will also want it to be the heaving data source for the sounder.

If you have an autopilot, it should also be set to use the SCX-20 for heading as it will certainly perform better than the sensor it is now using regardless of which brand it is.

Thank you. I changed a few things and input some info that the unit wanted.

I had another question that I still can't figure out.

Even with the SCX20, my Screen will still not rotate as the boat changes direction...Doesnt matter if I put COG or Heading, it always has NORTH up. Really annoying.

Now that my SCX20 is installed I know I can change it, but I'm obviously not changing a setting correctly.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you check that the SCX-20 is set as the heading source on the initial settings data source menu? Can you see heading data in a data box? How about course and heading vector lines from your boat icon on the chart display?

Thank you both for the replies. I will definitely watch the webinar!

I called tech support yesterday and they said everything should be good to go...apparently there is a little button/icon on the navigation screen that I need to touch that activates the heading? Something like that, I plan to check later today at the boat.

Yup left hand lower corner of the Nav screen. You have a choice of HU (Head Up) or NU (North Up). If it says NU just tap that and it'll change to HU where your screen will rotate.

LOL such a simple fix...I just had no idea that button even existed.

Still getting used to the switch to Furuno, but I definitely made the right choice. Even my installer (who has yet to even use the machine) was telling me the parts/components all appear to be of superior quality. Even the NMEA parts are upgraded.
