Scx20 mounting

Hi All,

Could I get some advice for best mounting location on our towered flybridge for a scx20.

Flybridge roof provides easy access to all electronic NMEA backbones, but has a Garmin radar dome in the middle, ideally I would like to replace the float free epirb with the scx20 and place the float free behind the radar. Would I need to raise the radar dome? And would the scx20 be forward enough for clear view of sats?

Tower roof is another option but running the NMEA cable down the tower tubes is a nightmare I would like to avoid, but will do if it’s the best location.

Appreciate any advice 🙏

The tower sunshade roof is the best place. You have way too much potential interference on the flybridge. There are field attached NMEA 2000 connectors available that would allow you to run just the cable through the pipework, which should make it less painful.

If that is too much to face, try mounting it temporarily on the flybridge for a few trips and see how it performs. You could get lucky.
