SCX20 Air Temperature

The air temperature display transmitted by the SCX20 takes quite a while to reach the actual temperature as displayed on the TZT2. It starts out low and gradually over time increases until it reaches the true temperature. The atmospheric pressure reading is instantaneous. Is there a setting or some other issue that may be causing this?

The temp sensor is located inside the unit/case so if you move the boat from inside to outside it takes time for the temp to change. It isn't really marketed as a weather sensor but it is a nice feature. If the boat isn't moved, then I can't explain why the time is required but can ask. Please let me know.

I’m not moving the boat. It is just sitting at the dock. If I leave the network powered up, this doesn’t occur. It only happens when the NMEA 2000 network is powered on then it could take 10 or more minutes for the temperature to read correct.

They said the temp sensor is in the unit on the board. Time to reach the true temp is the warm-up time for the SCX board and components and is not setting related. If instant temp value is needed a dedicated temp sensor or weather device must be used.

Thanks. I thought that it might need time for the sensor to acclimate to the temperature once turned on but thought I'd check to see if I was missing something like a smoothing setting. Just to reiterate, the SCX20 is the best new product Furuno has recently come out with by far. It is just so nice to have heading, chart alignment, AIS target positions, and radar alignment always matched up regardless of where I am or what direction I am traveling. I also believe this greatly improves safety as it eliminates trying to figure out exactly where a target is relative to heading.

No smoothing setting available for temp in the SCX20. I agree it is an excellent product and a groundbreaking bargain for the market.
