I had an old DGPS that finaly bit the dust. I think it was a GP32, but not sure. I'm looking at a GP33 or GP39 for a replacement which doesn't appear to have DGPS. What am I missig out on by not having DGPS? The old unit was pretty solid when i was staying on the fishing hole. I see the higher end units still have DGPS. I tried using my backup gps(garmin) this weekend and the heading would change as the boat rocked and pitched. A real pain. I just don't want to get back into that situation.

DGPS stations are slowly being removed as what happened with the old Loran C stations. It is more expensive to do than WAAS fixing; with both getting about the same fix result. Most everything is using WAAS fixing for the USA waters now. Unless you have an IMO requirement that you must have DGPS for something, I think you will find the GP39 to be an equal if not better replacement for the older GP3x units having DGPS. DPGS is using ground stations to tighten the lock and WAAS uses orbit stations to tighten the lock in the same manner. With ground stations going away, DGPS is unlikely to be around in the longer term.
