Reason for/ implications of true vs magnetic heading

I've seen several places that you recommend magnetic compass headings for chart plotters. On other forums, I see people recommending true compass headings for various GPS chart plotters. I'm having trouble understanding the pros and cons of using one versus the other. I'd appreciate hearing about why one is preferred or not.

In general terms TRUE heading is mostly for the commercial market and MAG heading is typically used in the light marine market. I prefer MAG heading because I like my electronics to match my steering compass on the boat.
