RD 30

Has anyone ever heard of a transducer being hooked up directly to the input of an RD 30 ? Transducer is a transom mount IDST P 66. That's what I currently have along with an Airman B744V to my Navnet 3D system with 2 15" MFD 's

I had an electronics guy tell me it's never done as the RD 30 is only a remote unit. I'm looking to upgrade the system with a DFF-1UHD and new transducers ; want to get some things straight.

The RD30 (Remote display) could directly power and run a NMEA 0183 smart sensor on the AUX port of the unit. The transom mount unit you describe would most likely be this one. https://www.furunousa.com/en/products/235dst-pwe
It provides digital depth, temp and water speed. It will NOT give you bottom structure or fish targets. It is not a fish finding transducer. It is more of a navigational depth transducer.
